Wednesday, September 14, 2011 Around 2345hrs firefighters were called to Winners Circle Drive in the Equine Meadows development for a smoke condition. First in firefighters found a small fire in a wall behind a gas stove. While crews were extinguishing this fire a resident from the house next door alerted firefighters to a smoke odor in her home. Other crews entered the home and found a fire in the attic. This was extinguished and overhauled while the first fire was also handled. First alarm crews handled both fires with the assistance of 2 additional engines which were called to the scene to assist with manpower. About an hour or more prior to these calls thunderstorms rolled through the area. Residents reported a lightning strike very close to the homes. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of both fires.
