Station 36 was alerted at 0137hrs for a garage fire. YCC advised that the homeowner reported the garage was on fire and were evacuating. Deputy 36 (Gouker) arrived to find smoke showing from only the garage area and found that all residents were out of the house. Tanker 36, Truck 34, Engine 34, Engine 37-1, Rescue 19, Rescue 36, and Truck 89-1 arrived. Crews stretched an attack line through the interior of the house to the garage area and a second line to the second floor above the garage. Ladders were thrown and the garage door eventually cut. The steel door and dry wall of the garage did its job and did not permit the fire to extend anywhere into the residence. Units returned to service at 0319hrs. Duties were completed at 0415hrs. Members returned home to catch a little sleep before getting up to go to their regular full time jobs. Station 36 appreciates the support of the mutual aid stations that responded on the call.
